Baby Face with a Mask on for a Baby Shower during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
MOST ALL events have been canceled due to the coronavirus! My event calendar is EMPTY... However I am receiving calls for “Maternity Belly Art Painting Appointments”!
The first call I received was from a pregnant mom that asked can you paint a baby face with a mask on the face? I laughed and said, But of course we can. I started searching google for some ideas and I came up with a few ideas.
What I normally do is start a Pinterest board so that the client and I can collaborate on a design together.
I sent a message to Varela (my client) saying... If you want, we can have some real fun with this design! If you want this design to be funny and fun, I was thinking we can use googly eyes and some false eyelashes. How about we add a baby bow to the design and maybe even a real mask instead of a painted on one. What do you think? Varela said SURE!
Varela had me come over to her house before her baby shower in order to paint this design so that during her baby shower her “Masked Baby Maternity Belly Art” would be on display for all to laugh and have fun with this design.
I used her bellybutton as the nose for the baby. Do you know how some people wear the mask with their nose out?! The proper way of wearing a mask this baby is not following because the nose is hanging out! 😂😷

Rainbow Baby Maternity Belly Art.
"Rainbow baby maternity belly art" has a powerful meaning behind it. Rainbow baby is the term used to describe a pregnancy following a series of miscarriages or still-births. The name “rainbow baby” comes from the idea of a rainbow appearing in the sky after a storm, or after a dark and turbulent time.
My client Melissa Crowley from CEO-Homemade and Blessed. Knew she wanted to celebrate her pregnancy in a memorable way.

After the appointment I sent a message to Melissa apologizing to her again for my clumsiness. Oh, my goodness what was my problem?! I can be clumsy at times BUT not that clumsy?! Let me take this time to be transparent with you, my blog readers. And walk you through this clumsy day appointment.
To achieve this design I used an airbrush setup. While I was setting up my airbrushes the airbrush stand did not fit correctly to my table. Just as I thought to myself, I think I really should add a plastic tablecloth to the cream colored rug below. Just as that thought went through my brain my airbrush stand fell crashing to the floor! A teardrop of the color pink, blue and yellow hit the cream colored rug! OH NO this airbrush stand WILL NOT WORK?! BUT have no fear I can be a bit of a "MacGyver" at times! I just used the container that was holding my paint colors as an airbrush stand. ("MacGyver" is to make or repair something "in an improvised or inventive way, making use of whatever items are at hand")

You my blog readers might ask was that it of the clumsiness mishaps? oh my gosh NO! The paint brush that I was using to write the baby's name ( Bella Luna) came apart and fell into the bottle of paint! That was the only paintbrush I packed because the rest of the design was going to be done with the airbrushes! The “crimp” is the part that fell into the bottle of paint. (“Crimp” is the part of the ferrule that secures it to the handle.) The face paint makeup I was using is a waterproof paint therefore I was using 80% alcohol to rinse my paint brush and I think that made the glue that holds the crimp to the paintbrush handle come apart. I had only 2 letters left to write when this happened. My "MacGyver quick thinking mind" kicked in or I call it my "artist brain" always improvising❤️‼️ I used the rounded end of the bottom part of the paintbrush to finish the last 2 letters. HA close one!

I had a friend named Bridget that when we were kids around 17/18 she had 2 baby girls. Both of us always had one of those baby’s on our hips! We did everything together! Well then LIFE happened and Bridget and I lost contact with each other for some 20+ years! I often wonder about Bridget. How is she doing? What is her life like now? Does she have any more kids? Well one day 20 + years later I receive a call from Bridget! Her youngest daughter Isabel asked her mom Bridget if you had one friend you could talk to who would it be? Bridget said I wonder whatever happened to Linda? Technology today all you have to do is a google search. Isabel did a google search "Linda Krause" and found me and my Wild Flower Artist Face and Body Art business! She went under the about artist page of my website and showed my picture to her mom Bridget and said is this her? Bridget said OMG YES! My phone number is on my website and Bridget gave me a call! Well Jessica and Isabel are all grown up and they are now having babies. I painted Isabel's belly when she was pregnant 5 years ago and just this month I painted Jessica's pregnant belly!

When Isabel was pregnant in year 2015 I painted her belly on two different occasions. The first time I painted her belly with a "sports theme" design. Complete with baseball glove, a baseball, a flaming football and an announcement "Aaron Coming soon"! For this design I used an airbrush and sport themed stencils.
The second time I painted a "Minion Maternity Belly Art Design". This design was done with traditional brush face paint applied by hand with brushes, sponges and FDA approved makeup designed specifically for use on human skin.

I asked Jessica what she would like in her design. She said she would like a baby elephant and she also likes sunflowers. I started searching the web and I found this baby elephant with the mommy elephant trunk holding the baby. I got the idea that I would use Jessica arm as the mommy trunk. I also added a little pink crown gem to the baby elephants head.
Then I saw this design from Jamie a face and body artist from Jamie's paint boxes she is an artist out in Durham, NC. I liked the way she painted the sunflowers on the breasts. I did the same with Jessica design but instead of painting a butterfly... I had these really cool 3D butterflies I found at the dollar store and I used them!

Their comfort is my top priority! Please provide a space of approximately 10x10 for the Pregnant Belly Art appointment. Please ensure that the location has adequate lighting. Set-up and breakdown vary depending on service.
Wild Flower Artist provides all the necessary supplies for your appointment in this picture, you can see the supplies I bring for a Maternity Belly Art appointment. Since the coronavirus I have decided to personalize each palette to my design needs only bring the colors we have worked out in the approved design I send over before the appointment. To tailor each palette to a specific job minimizes product wastage and cross-contamination while promoting sanitary makeup application. I personally get tested every 2 weeks so that my clients can be assured I am safe from the spread of Coronavirus.
