Frequently Asked Questions about Henna tattoo
Q: Does it hurt to apply henna to the skin?
A: NO! Applying henna on the skin is a painless beauty treatment. It is a pleasant and relaxing experience. The most difficult part of getting a henna design is sitting still for the time required, which can be anywhere from few minutes to several hours depending on the complexity of the design.
Q: Is Henna safe?
A: Yes, my paste is all natural containing only the powder of crushed henna leaves, eucalyptus oil, lemon juice and sugar. NO CHEMICALS ARE ADDED! Henna is NEVER black. The paste is a greenish/black color when it is wet and when it dries it looks black, but the paste will peel off and the stain will be on the skin. No pain, just stain;0} I do NOT & will NOT (even upon request) use “Black Henna” because I am committed to my customers safety. “Black Henna” is not henna at all. It is actually harsh chemicals like hair dye that can burn or scar your skin. BE AWARE, Mexico regularly uses “Black Henna” on tourists!
Safety Warning - No "Black Henna"! Please do not allow someone to apply a tattoo on your skin made from "black henna." Henna is not black. Safe, natural henna powder is always green, and the stain that the paste leaves on the skin ranges in color from red, orange and brown. Products labeled "black henna" contains a synthetic black hair dye called para-phenylendiamine. This chemical is also used in photographic development. Individuals processing film wear safety gloves, apron and eye protection. When applied to the skin, PPD is dangerous and can cause blistering, open sores, scarring, and lifelong health problems. I only use henna paste made from all-natural ingredients and is guaranteed free from harmful chemicals.
Q: Why are Henna tattoo so popular?
A: Henna tattoos are the newest trend. They allow the user to enjoy a beautiful temporary Henna tattoo without the needle pain and the permanence of a "real" tattoo. The Henna tattoo will remain until all the stained layers of skin naturally exfoliate. Exfoliation will eventually cause the stain to disappear.
Q: How to get the deepest, darkest Henna stain?
A: Henna paste is a dye and the longer it is left on the skin; the more layers of skin become stained by it.
1) Steaming is a way to help develop your Henna stain. This can be done by boiling water & holding your Henna in the steam for a few minutes. Repeat this process every hour. This will help keep your Henna moist, prevent it from cracking, as well as helping to release dye by providing heat.
2) I recommend leaving the Henna paste on overnight, if possible. When the Henna paste is almost completely dry, the easiest way to protect your Henna paste is to spray a layer of hair spray on top of it. Then apply medical adhesive tape to Henna paste, after you have taped Henna paste wrap plastic wrap around Henna paste. Henna needs to be absorbed into the layers of skin, and if you remove your Henna paste too early, wash hennaed area or enter chlorine, it can drastically affect your Henna stain.
3) When you are ready to remove your Henna paste you can flake it off using your finger nails or use a butter knife. DO NOT run water over the dry Henna paste that will affect the stain. If you cannot do any of the recommendation above just let the dried paste fall off on its own. It cracks, flakes and falls off leaving your Henna tattoo on your skin. However, the earlier you take the paste off the lighter your Henna tattoo will be. We recommend that you leave the Henna paste on for as long as you can in order to get a dark and long lasting Henna tattoo.
Q: What color is Henna, what color does the tattoo end up being, are there any other colors to Henna?
A: Henna paste looks almost greenish-black when it is first applied. Then it will flake off and the stained skin will turn to a copper-orange to reddish-brown. A Henna tattoo will start orange and then darken within the first 24-48 hours. There are no other natural colors to a Henna tattoos. We do not use colors because the only way to obtain them is by adding chemicals that dye the Henna. We do not recommend colored Henna.

It will last anywhere from 1 to 4 weeks, depending on your body temperature level, where the Henna tattoo is applied; the dryer the spot the deeper the stain and how often you wash the hennaed area. Making Henna Tattoos the longest form of temporary tattoo available.

A: Frequently rubbing oils or lotion on the Henna tattoo area will deter exfoliation. Go over the Henna patterns with new Henna every several days.
