With a booked calendar full of 4th July events!Do you have a rain plan?It may seem easy to overlook a rain plan, but if you're planning an outdoor event you should have a backup plan in place. Sure, odds may not be high that it'll rain, but do you really want to bet on those odds? We strongly encourage having a rain plan in place. Being over-prepared is usually preferable to being under-prepared, especially when it comes to a rain plan. Mud!The number one thing you may overlook when deciding whether or not to have a rain plan is mud. If your event is outdoors, it's guaranteed to get muddy and slippery after a good rain comes through, even if it rained the day before your event! Did the mud dry up?! Consider the ground and flooring first and foremost when planning an outdoor event. Relocate Indoors. When creating the guest list, for instance, consider how many guest you can reasonably entertain indoors, which may be less than the amount you could spread throughout the backyard/outdoor venue. When you gather the supplies for your outdoor event, consider decorations that can be easily relocated, or pick up a few extras to keep on hand in case you have to transform an indoor space on short notice. Rain Gear.Tell your guest to dress in rain gear the event is still on! It won’t hurt your guests to get a little wet. Make the best of the wet weather by rain dancing, umbrella twirling, and puddle jumping. Tell your guest lets dance in the Rain! Maybe the day isn’t expected to be a total washout. When the forecast predicts scattered showers all day you can still salvage your event plans—with a little help from some outdoor shelter, ask your guest and family if they have some tents or beach umbrella they can lend you. This way your guest will have a place to gather when it starts to rain! The garage is another space that comes in handy for a rainy day event. Move the car out, clear some space and set an area to relocate in case of rain. Have a rain date planed ahead of time...If your event truly relies on its outdoor setting and a sunny day, you may have no choice but to reschedule. Choose a rain date and add it to the invitation. With any luck, you won’t have to use it, but guests should know ahead of time what to do in the event of rain. A rain date also lets guests know to keep the secondary date free, as well.
