Linda has also developed her own unique style of artistic expression incorporating spiritual, emotional, and physical aspects of the ancient art of Middle Eastern Belly Dancing. A dancer since childhood, she was captivated by this art and has studied modern jazz, acrobatics, country line dancing, Irish dancing, and Latin dance before discovering belly dance in 2002. She continues her education of this dance form by attending workshops with the most sought after Middle Eastern dancers/teachers in the world and loves to share her passion with others through private parties and lessons.

Belly dancing is not a dance to seduce men. That’s a western-cultural misperception, to the contrary. Known by many names, "Belly Dance" is one of the oldest celebrations of the female form and spirit. Belly dancing is one of the
oldest-documented dances, and it was created by women, for women. With roots in the Near, Middle and Far East, the dance has been used for secular and religious celebrations.
In ancient times, it was tied to the honoring of `Mother Earth` and the eternal Goddess, surviving by becoming the dance of traveling Gypsies adding the cultural dimensions of each place visited and also remaining as to become national dances of various countries. Egypt possessing the most traditional and classical form of the dance.
In 17th century Europe, Orientalist painters used the dance as the subject for their masterpieces.
Then in 1893 at the Chicago World’s Fair the dance became a product of American ingenuity. A young woman calling herself “Little Egypt”, commercialized the dances of Algerian folk dancers and the phenomenon of the `belly dance ` was born.
Today, women of all ages, shapes and sizes and walks of life practice this sensuous art form for exercise, stress reduction and just for the fun of it. Some belong to troupes and perform the dance at cultural and community functions while some advance to a professional status dancing at parties, restaurants and night clubs. Many people have discovered the many health benefits of belly dancing.
Besides providing a fun, low-impact workout, belly dance strengthens and tones the entire body while developing balance and grace. Belly dancing also improves flexibility of the hips and back as well as increases core strength.

Some people believe that belly dancing is beneficial to pregnant women.

Linda, Belly Dance Instructor
Belly dancing tones the muscles used in childbirth. Dancers must isolate the muscles of the abdomen, which directly benefits pregnant women. Some of the deep-breathing techniques used in belly dancing are also taught in childbirth classes. The natural movements of belly dance promote balance, flexibility and grace in movement and help to develop spontaneity and creative expression.

CLASS DESCRIPTION:
The classes will focus on... Breathing exercise, a few self massage techniques. Fluid and flexibility of the hips and back as well as posture. I provide a good base of beginner moves and body isolation, which in turn, increases core
strength while incorporating my passion with holistic wellness pursuits with accreditation to Pilates and Yoga. I posses a lively, energetic movement that is controlled by a soft and sensual grace. Which I hopes will allow students to progress to their own improvisation and broaden their own studies. I know the power that dancing has to change lives and for that reason, I love teaching. With patience and sensitivity, I am able to reach students who wouldn't normally venture into such an experience. I teach not only the beauty of this dance, but the many benefits to the mind, body and spirit as well.

CLASS ATTIRE:
Students should dress in exercise wear so they are comfortable and have full range of movement. Clothing should be tighter rather than looser to make it easy for your teacher to see your body doing the movements. You do not have to bare your belly if you do not want to. Please do not wear jeans or other street clothes. We normally dance in bare feet, but dance slippers or other soft sole shoes may be worn if preferred. Though the studio is heated/air
conditioned, the studio tends to be warmer during the summer months and cooler during the winter months... please dress accordingly. Hip Scarves and Veils will be available for students to use in class.
